I am pleased that two of my photos are included in the Plymouth Center for the Arts "Visions" show, on display March 27-April 28. The show encompasses many media categories, including
painting, photography, drawing, printmaking, pastel, mixed-media, and more.
I went into the archives for these photos. Exposed Rose is an zoomed close-up of a rose at full bloom, just before it starts to fade. A filter was applied to add definition. Low Tide at Higgins shows a magnificent sky in advance of a summer thunderstorm - a case of being in the right place at the right time.

I am pleased to announce that one of my photos was selected for the 10th Annual International Juried iPhonography Competition, running from March 6- April 7. Sponsored by the Plymouth Center for the Arts, this online-only show includes work from nearly sixty photographers. The only requirement was that the photograph be taken with a mobile device. Artists were permitted to enhance their entries with photo-editing.

About the Photo - Greek Staircase was taken in Sept 2023 on the island of Santorini, at the archeological site of Akrotiri, a Minoan settlement buried by the massive 17th century BCE volcanic eruption. The picture was taken from inside the covered site - although the staircase dates from modern times, it mirrors the nearby ruined structures buried for centuries.
I am pleased that two of my photos are included in the Plymouth Center for the Arts "Abstractions" show, on display Feb 21- March 24. The show encompasses many media categories, including
painting, photography, drawing, printmaking, pastel, mixed-media, and more.
Abstract images don't come naturally to me, but an occasional happy accident in the photo-editing process can create an interesting abstract effect. The selected photos are shown at right: Trees of Many Colors and Pink Tulips.

I am pleased to announce that ten of my larger-format photos, along with works by nine other area artists, will be on display at Art Gallery At Mill (AGAM), Unionville, CT, through the month of June.
AGAM is located in an old nut & bolt factory on the Farmington River. The building has been converted to shared-use space; commercial businesses are centrally located with art displayed on the original brick perimeter walls. AGAM's mission is to provide "local area artists with a stage to display and promote their art."
A combined Art Show and Artisan Market is planned for Sunday, June 11 from 11-3.
About the photos - For this show, I selected some of my favorite photos - some have been featured in previous shows, others were taken straight from my walls.
Clockwise from top left: Winter's End, Chihuly Reflection, Iris Field, Bridge of Orchy-Scotland, Well Worn Path, Treetops, Lit from Behind, Eastern Painted Turtle-You Called?, Comfort Me with Apples, and Cedar Waxwing-Drunk on Berries.

About the photos - Water is a powerful natural element, life-giving and dangerous, calming and invigorating. The photos I selected for this exhibit depict water landscapes from New England to Iceland and include fresh, salt, still and thundering water scenes. Clockwise from top left: Bridge Reflections, Low Tide Shimmer, Submerged & Saturated, Rainbow Zone, and Taking Flight.
I am pleased that my photo, "Street Scene - Anonymous Presser," has been selected for the Plymouth Center for the Arts juried online iPhonography exhibit. From 465 submissions, 65 photos were selected to appear in the show. The exhibit runs March 1-March 31

The photo was taken on a NYC street in 2019. The laundry worker never paused as he wielded his iron in complete anonymity in bustling midtown Manhattan.
I am pleased to announce that two of my photos, Cedar Waxwing - Drunk on Berries, and Eastern Painted Turtle - You Called? have been selected to hang in the "Connecticut Creatures" show, at the Noah Webster Library in West Hartford. The exhibit is co-sponsored by the library and the WeHa Artists Emporium and will run through March 30.
The show guidelines called for "...original art featuring the creature [sic] (both wild and domesticated) of Connecticut. We're looking for photography, drawings, paintings, needlepoint, quilting, mixed media, oils ...anything 2-D that can be hung on a wall."
Drunk on Berries was taken in Collinsville after an early February snowstorm when a flock of these beautiful birds were busy devouring all the berries on the tree, oblivious to everything. You Called? was captured on a mid-March day at the Farmington Ave Reservoir when the turtles had begun to stir, perching on logs to soak up the first warm rays of spring.
I am pleased to announce that my photo, Abide with Me has been selected to hang in West Hartford's Monastery Art Gallery show, "A Missing Peace," from Jan 13 through April 10. An artists' reception is planned for March 10.
More details about The Monastery Art Gallery can be found at https://www.monasterygallery.art/

The show is a joint collaboration between the WEHA Artists Emporium and the library and is funded by the West Hartford Library Association.
From top to bottom, the accepted photos are Watercolor Stream, End of Day, and Bridge Reflections.

Storm Coming In
I am pleased and excited to announce that two of my photos, Curves, and Winter Dinghies, have been accepted by the 12th Annual International Juried Exhibit & Competition (aka the Fine Art of Photography 2022 exhibit) at Plymouth Center for the Arts in Plymouth, MA.
About the photos:
Curves is a capture of a graceful winding staircase at the Wadsworth Atheneum in Hartford, CT. The stark contrast was much enhanced by converting the image into a B&W photo.
Winter Dinghies was taken at Perkins Cove in Ogunquit, ME on a bitterly cold, late afternoon day in December. It was approaching the "blue hour" and the setting sun illuminated the harbor waters, producing a shimmering watercolor effect.
The show runs May 1 through June 4.
Ten of my photos will continue to be featured from April through June at Art Gallery at the Mill (AGAM) in Unionville, CT. The complete list is shown in the black box and in the slideshow.
The slideshow photos are an eclectic collection - black & white, color, and filtered photos in a variety of sizes provide a good overall summary of my work. All are available for sale - prices available upon request (use CONTACT ME button).
The gallery is located in the Upson Market Place building, the former Upson Nut and Bolt Factory, built in 1860. The property has been identified as having both architectural and historical significance and is listed on the CT Historic Register.
On the gallery website, https://artgalleryatmill.com, I am identified as one of several "featured artists" with pieces in the exhibit. I encourage you to stop by to see them in person - the gallery is open 9-6, M-F and is closed on weekends.

If you know my photography, you know I primarily specialize in florals and landscape scenes, with occasionally throw in interesting architectural features. Occasionally I go rogue.
I am happy to report that a photo WAY out of my comfort zone was recently accepted into the WHAL Members Annual Juried Exhibit (March 31-May 1, Saltbox and Clubhouse galleries).
About the photo: Entitled Overhead Street Map, the photo is a capture of the entry hall ceiling at Hartford's Wadsworth Atheneum. Applying a filter to the original photo gave it the aspect of a dystopian aerial street scene.

I am very pleased and excited to announce that my photo, Under the Bridge, received an Honorable Mention award in the 2022 iPhonography Plymouth Center for the Arts exhibit. This open-themed, juried photography show was limited to photos captured with an iPhone or other device. My photo was taken along the Connecticut River at the Hartford waterfront in March 2020. The top five (1,2,3 & 2 HMs) will be framed and displayed in the gallery starting March 24.
About the photo: Under the Bridge was taken along the Connecticut River at the Hartford waterfront in March 2020, just as the pandemic was getting underway. The isolation of a single individual, consulting his phone, was magnified by bridge shadows and the B&W filter.
